Rams Baseball Reaches $70K Goal for 2024 Season

Long Beach, CA – Today, the Rams Baseball Boosters announced, as part of their Spring Update, that the 2024 fundraising goal of $70,000 was reached earlier than expected.  The volunteer organization pays for coaches stipends, baseball equipment, and field improvements, among other costs to support all levels of the Millikan High School baseball program.

“It’s really exciting,” said Controller Karen Kosoff, “that we have already reached our goal and we won’t have to ask families for additional donations to support the Spring Season.”  This will be the first time in many years that families will not be asked for additional donations to fund the remaining activities.

How Did They Do It?

To fund these investments, the Boosters asked each family to help raise over $1,000 EACH through special events, sponsorships, and volunteer efforts.  “It was a true community effort”, said Special Events Director Katherine Shaw, “we had record turnout for all of our big special events this year.  I can’t thank the families and players enough for their participation.”  Here is how we raised it (these numbers reflect net income rounded off to the nearest hundred):

  • Cornhole Tournament: $9,000
  • Beato Memorial Tournament: $5,500
  • World Series Challenge: $3,000
  • Snap Raise: $36,200
  • Golf Club Cleaning: $2,000
  • Oktoberfest: $500
  • Donations & Sponsorship: $2,500
  • Opening Day: $3,300
  • Superbowl: $3,000
  • Poker Night: $5,000

Note: these fundraising numbers are through February 2024 and do not include “Survey Income” nor the “Banner Advertising” revenue that is collected by the MHS ASB program account.  Those numbers will be added to the total when the year is completed.

What Did They Pay For?

Below is a summary of what these efforts funded so far this year:

  • $36,000 in coaching stipends for (10) coaches (all levels).
  • $10,000 for umpires, field permits, tournament fees, travel and other game-related costs.
